Description

Delightful mini buns made with milk and sugar, soft and fluffy – perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Warm the milk until it’s just warm to the touch, add the yeast and one tablespoon of sugar, and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and butter. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepping to shape: After rising, punch down the dough, divide into about 12 pieces.
  6. Forming the buns: Roll each piece into a ball and place on a parchment-lined steaming basket, leaving space between them.
  7. Second rise: Cover the buns with a towel and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Steaming: Bring water to a simmer and steam the buns for around 12-15 minutes until fluffy and cooked.

Notes

Best served warm or with jam, honey, or dipped in chocolate.
