Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set it aside for later.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  6. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pans for about 10 minutes and then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
