Description

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake the pastry squares for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let them cool completely.
  4. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the whole milk, granulated sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat. Add the egg yolks, whisking until thickened (about 5-7 minutes). Stir in the vanilla extract and let it cool slightly.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Once the pastry squares have cooled, cut them in half horizontally. Spoon the custard onto the bottom half and top with whipped cream before placing the top half back on.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
