Homemade vanilla cream filled donuts that are fluffy, sweet, and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the cream filling)
- Oil for frying
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- After resting, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donut shapes. Place the donuts on a floured baking sheet while you heat the oil.
- In a deep pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches, about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- While the donuts cool, prepare the vanilla cream filling. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Add the vanilla extract and whip until combined.
- Once the donuts are cool, use a pastry bag or a small piping bag filled with the cream to fill the middle of each donut. Dust the tops with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes
Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
