Description

A simple yet delightful recipe that brings a burst of summer into your kitchen with sweet-tart strawberry crumb bars.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the butter and mix until crumbly. Press half into the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, toss the strawberries with cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla. Spread the strawberry mixture over the crust.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the strawberries and add rolled oats on top.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  6. Cool in the dish before slicing into squares.

Notes

For an extra zing, add grated lemon zest to the crumb topping.
