Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, then roll the balls in granulated sugar to coat.
  7. Place the cookies onto ungreased pans and flatten lightly.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier texture, consider chilling the dough for about an hour before rolling.
