Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the sliced strawberries with a tablespoon of sugar in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix the sugar with melted butter in another bowl. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and milk, whisking until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently to combine without overmixing.
  6. Fold in the macerated strawberries and their juices into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
