Description

A comforting dessert featuring a buttery crumble topping, sweet and tart apples, and rich salted caramel, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Slowly stir in the melted butter until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Take about two-thirds of this mixture and press it firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
  4. In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel sauce. Pour this delicious apple mixture over your crust.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture over the apple layer.
  6. If you like, sprinkle chopped nuts and a pinch of sea salt on top for an extra crunch.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping turns golden and the apples are tender.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For an extra treat, serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
