Description

Delightful homemade puff pastry hearts filled with fruit preserves, perfect for sharing on Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter, ensuring an even number of hearts.
  3. Place half of the heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet and add a dollop of fruit preserves in the center of each heart, leaving a small border.
  4. Brush the edges with the beaten egg, then top with another heart shape and press the edges to seal, crimping with a fork for decoration.
  5. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar if desired.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 1-2 days at room temperature. For long-term storage, freeze assembled hearts before baking.
