Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter, ensuring an even number of hearts.
- Place half of the heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet and add a dollop of fruit preserves in the center of each heart, leaving a small border.
- Brush the edges with the beaten egg, then top with another heart shape and press the edges to seal, crimping with a fork for decoration.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar if desired.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 1-2 days at room temperature. For long-term storage, freeze assembled hearts before baking.
