Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup fruit jam or frosting for filling
  • 1 cup sprinkles or colored sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Spread your choice of fruit jam or frosting over the dough layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the jam or frosting, making sure to cover it thoroughly. Top with sprinkles or colored sugar for an extra festive touch.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares. Serve and enjoy!
