Description

Delightful mini apple pies filled with spiced apples and wrapped in a flaky crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium-sized Apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp Allspice
  • ¼ tsp Ground Ginger
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch Slurry
  • 1 Package of Premade Pie Dough (contains 2 crusts)
  • All-purpose Flour (for dusting)
  • 1 Beaten Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp Milk, Cream, or Water (for egg wash)
  • Additional Coarse Brown Sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples, ensuring they are roughly the same size for even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat a medium sauté pan over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the apple mixture and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in a tablespoon of cornstarch slurry to thicken, then let cool while preparing the pie crusts.
  5. Dust your work surface with flour, roll out the premade pie dough, and cut out 4-inch circles.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Lay half of the circles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and fill with the apple mixture.
  8. Top with another dough circle, seal the edges, and crimp with a fork.
  9. Brush each pie with a beaten egg mixture, sprinkle with coarse brown sugar, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature; excellent with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce.
