- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a madeleine pan.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared madeleine pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the Madeleines to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
Chill the batter for at least an hour for the signature hump. Experiment with flavors like almond or orange zest for a unique twist.
