- 6 medium-sized ripe but firm pears (Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup water
- Optional garnishes: toasted nuts, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, fresh mint
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and dry the pears, then halve each pear lengthwise and scoop out the core and seeds.
- Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in a suitable baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, butter, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract over medium-low heat and stir until melted.
- Spoon the honey glaze generously over the pears, filling the cavities.
- Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish around the pears.
- Bake for 25-35 minutes until the pears are tender and the glaze is bubbly.
- Let the pears rest for a few minutes before serving, drizzling any caramelized glaze over them.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat before serving.
