Ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized ripe but firm pears (Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Optional garnishes: toasted nuts, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and dry the pears, then halve each pear lengthwise and scoop out the core and seeds.
  3. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in a suitable baking dish.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey, butter, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract over medium-low heat and stir until melted.
  5. Spoon the honey glaze generously over the pears, filling the cavities.
  6. Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish around the pears.
  7. Bake for 25-35 minutes until the pears are tender and the glaze is bubbly.
  8. Let the pears rest for a few minutes before serving, drizzling any caramelized glaze over them.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat before serving.
