Description

Delightful and colorful French macarons with a crisp exterior and chewy center, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Buttercream or desired filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Add food coloring if desired and gently fold in the almond flour mixture until smooth.
  6. Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  7. Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  8. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release air bubbles.
  9. Let macarons sit for about 30 minutes to form a skin.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes and let them cool completely.
  11. Sandwich two macaron shells with buttercream or your chosen filling.

Notes

Ensure to sift the almond flour and powdered sugar well. Room temperature egg whites are recommended.
