- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Buttercream or desired filling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Add food coloring if desired and gently fold in the almond flour mixture until smooth.
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
- Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
- Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release air bubbles.
- Let macarons sit for about 30 minutes to form a skin.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes and let them cool completely.
- Sandwich two macaron shells with buttercream or your chosen filling.
Notes
Ensure to sift the almond flour and powdered sugar well. Room temperature egg whites are recommended.
