- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream together unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter, cutting out half with a smaller heart shape in the center.
- Spread about 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam on each solid heart cookie.
- Top with a cut-out heart and gently press the edges to seal.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
