- 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a double boiler or a microwave, stirring until smooth.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.
- Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract.
- Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, then fold gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the cake has set but is still soft in the center.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.
- Serve as is or with whipped cream or berries.

Use quality dark chocolate for the best flavor. Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
