Description

A delightful Japanese pastry shaped like a fish, filled with sweet red bean paste or various other fillings, perfect for a snack or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup red bean paste (or custard, chocolate, or fruit)
  • Butter or oil for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Preheat a Taiyaki pan and grease it with butter or oil.
  5. Pour a small amount of batter into the pan, add your chosen filling, and top with more batter.
  6. Close the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the pan and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm with powdered sugar, ice cream, or fresh fruits. Customize fillings for a fun twist!
