- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1/2 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square baking pan and line it with parchment paper.

- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and yogurt until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Spread half the batter evenly into the prepared pan, then arrange half of the apple slices on top.
- Dollop the remaining batter over the apples and spread it gently, then arrange the remaining apple slices decoratively on top.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle it evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
