Description
A soft and fluffy bread loaf that’s perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply enjoying fresh.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g bread flour (3¾ cup)
- 40 g sugar (3 tbsp)
- 1½ tsp instant yeast
- 225 g cold water (just under 1 cup)
- 115 g cold milk (½ cup)
- 9 g sea salt (1½ tsp)
- 25 g unsalted butter (1¾ tbsp)
- Butter for coating the pan and brushing the bread
- Flour for coating the pan
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, and instant yeast. Make a well in the center and add the cold water and milk. Mix until a rough dough forms. Add the sea salt and soft butter, kneading the dough until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size (around 1 hour).
- After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air bubbles. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and shape into a log that fits your loaf pan. Place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf again and let it rise for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until it rises just above the rim of the pan.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and hollow when tapped on the bottom. Let cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Ensure water and milk are cold for the best texture. Knead the dough well for gluten development.
