Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and spices—cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, combine the honey, brown sugar, and milk until well blended.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the orange zest and any nuts you choose to include.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
