Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup ube or purple yam, cooked and mashed
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly. Gradually add water until a dough forms. Knead briefly and let it rest.
  2. In another bowl, combine the mashed ube, sugar, and vanilla to make the filling.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Roll out the dough and cut it into circles. Place a spoonful of ube filling in the center of each circle.
  5. Fold and seal the edges tightly to secure the filling inside.
  6. Place your pastries on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
