- 6–8 large apples (peeled, cored, and sliced, approximately 9 cups)
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup butter (melted)
- Ice cream (for topping)
- Caramel sauce (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch wedges and spread them evenly in a 13×9 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix the apple slices with 2/3 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 3/4 teaspoon of salt to create a crumbly topping.
- Sprinkle the flour mixture over the apples and drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream and caramel sauce, if desired.
Notes
Feel free to mix different types of apples for a more complex flavor. Don’t overmix the flour topping for better texture.
