Description

A delightful dessert combining baked apples with a crumbly topping, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 68 large apples (peeled, cored, and sliced, approximately 9 cups)
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter (melted)
  • Ice cream (for topping)
  • Caramel sauce (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch wedges and spread them evenly in a 13×9 inch baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix the apple slices with 2/3 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 3/4 teaspoon of salt to create a crumbly topping.
  5. Sprinkle the flour mixture over the apples and drizzle with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream and caramel sauce, if desired.

Notes

Feel free to mix different types of apples for a more complex flavor. Don’t overmix the flour topping for better texture.
