- 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
- 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 3 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of allspice
- Pinch of cloves
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter, cold
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, toss chopped apples with maple syrup, ground cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and lemon juice.
- In another bowl, mix flour, sourdough discard, pinch of cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add brown sugar and milk, mixing until just combined.
- Spread apple filling in a greased dish and spoon the biscuit topping over the apples.
- Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling.
Notes
Let the cobbler sit for a few minutes after baking to allow the juices to settle. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
