Description

A delightful twist on traditional cinnamon rolls, this bread features a creamy filling of sweetened cream cheese, enveloped in soft, pillowy dough and spiced with cinnamon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and frothy yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a splash of vanilla until smooth.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 16×24-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle this over the cream cheese.
  7. Starting from one end, roll the dough into a tight log and pinch the seam to seal.
  8. Cut the rolled dough into equal pieces about 1.5 inches thick. Arrange slices in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Cover the loaf pan with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cover with foil if the top gets too brown.
  11. Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm for the best experience. Drizzle with glaze for added sweetness.
