Description

Delightful dessert squares capturing the essence of traditional Italian cannoli with flaky puff pastry and creamy ricotta filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios (optional, for garnish)
  • Cocoa powder or extra powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets and fit them into a greased baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Then fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  4. Spread the ricotta mixture over the puff pastry evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool, then cut into squares.
  7. Garnish with chopped pistachios and dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar if desired.
