Chocolate Mousse Brownies combine a fudgy brownie base with a creamy mousse topping. A rich, decadent dessert that’s perfect for parties, holidays, or everyday indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownie Layer:

½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

¾ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

For the Mousse Layer:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 ½ cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate, melted and slightly cooled

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: 1 tablespoon espresso (enhances chocolate flavor)

Garnish Options:

Shaved chocolate

Cocoa powder dusting

Whipped cream

Fresh berries

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Melt butter and chocolate chips together until smooth. Stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

3. Fold in flour and salt until just combined. Spread into pan and bake 20–25 minutes. Cool completely.

4. Beat cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.

5. Gently fold in melted chocolate until mousse is smooth and fluffy.

6. Spread mousse evenly over cooled brownie base. Smooth the top.

7. Chill at least 2 hours (overnight for best results).

8. Dust with cocoa powder or garnish with chocolate shavings and berries before serving.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for smoother brownie batter.
  • Cool brownies completely before adding mousse, or it will melt.
  •  Always use high-quality chocolate for best flavor.
  • Chill long enough for mousse to set before slicing.
  • For clean cuts, warm your knife under hot water and wipe between slices.
