- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty.
- Mix brown sugar and granulated sugar in a bowl, then add cooled browned butter and mix well.
- Add sourdough discard, egg, and vanilla; stir until blended.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Combine with the wet mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the sheet, baking for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Cool cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For softer cookies, do not over-mix the dough and allow the butter to brown properly.
