Delightful brioche buns filled with cream cheese and blueberry preserves, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 1 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1 tablespoon dry active yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons Kerrygold salted butter (melted and cooled)
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 8 ounces cream cheese (at room temperature)
- ½ cup full-fat sour cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon zest
- 1 cup blueberry preserves
- 1 pint fresh blueberries
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (for garnish)
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, sugar, vanilla extract, melted butter, and egg in a stand mixer bowl. Whisk and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt, and knead on medium low for 12-15 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, remaining vanilla, powdered sugar, egg, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Flour the surface, pour out the risen dough, and divide into 9 equal pieces.
- Shape into balls, place on a lined baking sheet, and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Press a glass into each dough ball and pipe in cream cheese filling followed by blueberry jam and blueberries.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or yogurt. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
