Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for the filling)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for the filling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the baking dish to form a base.
  4. Bake the crust for about 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, fresh orange juice, orange zest, granulated sugar, flour, and baking powder until smooth.
  6. Pour the filling over the hot crust and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, until set.
  7. Let the bars cool completely, dust with powdered sugar, and cut into squares.
