- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Orange fondant
- Black fondant
- Buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar, beating until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with buttercream frosting once cooled.
- Cover the cake with orange fondant and add black lines for a basketball design.
- Slice and serve to guests to enjoy!
