Description

An eye-catching Basketball Cake perfect for parties and celebrations, made with moist layers and dressed in vibrant orange and black fondant.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Orange fondant
  • Black fondant
  • Buttercream frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar, beating until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Frost with buttercream frosting once cooled.
  8. Cover the cake with orange fondant and add black lines for a basketball design.
  9. Slice and serve to guests to enjoy!
