Description

A delightful pastry filled with sweet apple filling and drizzled with a smooth glaze, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup whole milk, warm
  • 2 tsp water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz apple pie filling
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tsp water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, water, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut the cold cubed butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the foamy yeast mixture and the egg to the bowl. Stir just until the dough comes together.
  5. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a large rectangle.
  8. Spread the apple pie filling down the center of the rectangle and sprinkle with cardamom.
  9. Fold the dough over the filling lengthwise, sealing the edges well.
  10. Transfer your shaped dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with egg wash if desired.
  11. Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool the Kringle completely on a wire rack.
  13. Mix the powdered sugar, vanilla, and 2-3 teaspoons of water until smooth for your glaze. Drizzle over the cooled Kringle.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days, or wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to a week.
