Delicious apple crumb bars featuring spiced apples and a buttery crumble, perfect for any occasion.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji work best)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the cold cubed butter and vanilla extract. Mix until crumbly.
- Press half of this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
- In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch until well coated.
- Spread the apple mixture over the crust in the baking pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are soft.
- Let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For best results, let the bars cool completely before cutting for cleaner slices.
