Description

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with these simple and delightful heart-shaped shortbread cookies made with just five ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter-sugar combination, stirring until the dough begins to come together.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut out cookies using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  7. Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
